GPC® 552 English Tech. Manual PDF format.

Ver. 5.20 - Rel.. 08 September 1999.

The GPC® 552 is a powerful control module with extremely low power consumption, capable of operationg in stand-alone mode or as an intelligent peripheral, and/or remoted, in a wider telecontrol or aquisition network. The GPC® 552 module is secured in a plastic mount for connection to rails DIN 46277-1 and DIN 46277-2, thereby dispensing with the need of rack and allowing a less costly mounting direct to the electrical control panel. The board can use all versions of the chip, namely 80C552, 87C552, all of which software- compatible with the widely known 8051 INTEL.

A selection of software developement tools can be obtained, allowing the use of the module as a system for its own developement, both in Assembler and in other evolved languages. Noteworthy among these are the developement Tools as the Compilators C, the FORTH and the handy BASIC 552.This latter is compatible with the widespread MCS® BASIC-52 of INTEL to which have been added new commands. Noteworthy among the new ones, are the ones regarding the A/D, I2C-BUS, RTC, Serial EEPROM, Stepper-Motor, direct managing of Display LCD or Fluorescent and of a matrix keyboard etc. For an immediate use of this new command, KDL-224 boards are available, or if you need a finished object, there is the Operator Panel QTP 16P or QTP 24P. (See the Application Note). This Operator Panel, offered in the open frame version, bears the same aesthetic as QTP 24, but, as the local intelligence is not furnished, it is piloted directly by GPC® 552, allowing a notable cost reduction. The BASIC 552 affords truly notable debug facilities, and allows to program directly on board a EEPROM with the user program. To speed the applicative system, or to make it unreadable to intrusive eyes, it is furnished with Compilator BASIC BXC51, provided with libraries that accept as source what has been generated and gone through debug with BASIC 552.

The GPC® 552 is furnished with a series of standard Abaco® connectors allowing immediate use of the many BLOCK I/O modules available, or enabling a simple and inexpensive means of connections to equipment interfaces made by the user or by third parties.
